Maaz Bin Bilal

Maaz Bin Bilal is a poet, translator, and academic. His first book of poems Ghazalnama: Poems from Delhi, Belfast, and Urdu (2019) was shortlisted for the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar. Poems from the collection have been translated into Irish and Bangla. Maaz is the translator of The Sixth River, Fikr Taunsvi’s Partition diary, Chhata Darya, from Urdu, and the forthcoming Temple Lamp, the Persian long poem on Banaras, Chiragh-e-Dair, by Mirza Ghalib. His works have received favourable reviews internationally and are being taught at universities in India and the US. Maaz was the Charles Wallace Fellow in writing and translation at Wales in 2018-19, and holds a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast. He is associate professor of literary studies at Jindal Global University.
