Melisa Gürpinar (1941-2014), a Turkish writer, stage director, theatre critic, was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She studied drama at Istanbul Municipal Conservatory, then moved to London to pursue her studies in the same field. Her first poetry collection came out in 1962. She published over ten poetry and short story collections. Her life on Princes’ Islands deeply reflects on her late work.
