Filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, best known for his epoch-making films Umrao Jaan and Gaman, is a man of many parts. Together with his wife Meera and daughter Sama, he nurtures artisans and their work through the fashion creations of Kotwara, his designer house. An inspired painter since his college days, Ali has held many successful painting exhibitions, the most recent of them being at Kalakriti, Hyderabad. Ali also curates and produces the much-lauded “Jahan-e-Khusrau” and Wajid Ali Shah festivals in Delhi and Lucknow.
