Rekha Valliappan

Rekha Valliappan is the award-winning writer of The Copper Amulet and The Ginger Cat adjudged by Prof. Dr. Rashi Rohatgi for the Accent Prize. She received her BA and MA in English Literature from Madras University and her LLB (Hons) from the University of London. She taught at three colleges in two countries. Her stories, poetry and creative nonfiction are reflective of her multicultural background and have featured in international journals and anthologies in USA, Canada, UK, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, including Green Hills Literary Lantern, Thrice Fiction Magazine, Liquid Imagination, Third Flatiron, Indiana Voice Journal, ColdNoon Journal, Locust Magazine, Rabid Oak, Coffin Bell Journal, Foliate Oak Literary Magazine, Scarlet Leaf Review, The Ekphrastic Review, Theme of Absence, Mercurial Stories, Eastern Iowa Review, Asia Magazine, Intellectual Refuge, New Reader Magazine, and elsewhere. Her short fiction "Ice Eyes of The Turquoise Passage" was Best of Fiction in Across The Margin's Annual List 2017, and her short-listed story "Written In The Stars" was published by Ouen Press (UK) in their prize-winners anthology "Tasting Notes & Other Short Stories." She volunteered for a decade on the Executive Council, as Secretary and Editor of one of the oldest and largest not-for-profit India Associations in New York.
