Roomy Naqvy was born in Mumbai in November 1971. There were war fears, and his Parsi mother tells him — her first born — that hospital windowpanes were darkened with black paper. In a land where identities constantly intersect or sometimes collide with each other, he likes to call himself a hybrid of various sorts. He has taught English Literature to students at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, since 1995. He likes to dwell in the intoxication of reading and teaching.
