Born and raised in Kerala, Usha Kishore was educated at the universities of Kerala (India), Sheffield Hallam University (UK) and the Canterbury (UK). A resident of the Isle of Man, where she teaches English at Queen Elizabeth II High School, she is the author of two collections of poetry. Her work has won prizes in UK Poetry competitions and features in the British Primary and Indian Middle School syllabus. The winner of an Arts Council Award and a Manx Heritage Foundation Award, her poetry has been translated into German, Gujarati, Spanish and Manx Gaelic. Usha Kishore is also a translator of Hindi and Sanskrit.
