Georgina Maddox

Georgina Maddox, a journalist based in Delhi, likes to wear many hats. When she is not on the art beat, she likes to be a creative writer and a visual artist. When she is in the mood, she likes to strum her guitar and serenade about life and its complexities. And when the need arises, she takes to the streets waving a banner with her activist comrades for queer rights, women’s rights and the rights of minority groups. Her work has appeared in publications like STIR world, MASH Take on Art, Art India, The Hindu, The Indian Express, Outlook magazine, The Times of India, Mumbai Mirror, and Mail Today. She has worked on two short films: Bombay Longing with Shalini Kantaya, a US-based diva, and No Fixed Address with artist Tejal Shah on the camera. She has also curated several exhibitions and written catalogue essays for artists like Sunil Padwal, Shilpa Gupta, Sanjeev Sonpimpare, and Saba Hasan, to name a few. Her essay on Bhupen Khakhar and Amrita Sher-Gil, “Challenging the Hetero-norm in Art,” was published in a Seagull publication titled The Phobic and the Erotic: The Politics of Sexualities in Contemporary India; edited by Brinda Bose and Subhabrata Bhattacharyya.
