Sampurna Chattarji

Sampurna Chattarji is a writer, translator and teacher, as well as the poetry editor of The Indian Quarterly. Her eighteen books include eight poetry titles, the most recent being Space Gulliver: Chronicles of an Alien (HarperCollins, 2015, 2020); Over & Under Ground in Mumbai & Paris (Context, Westland Publications, October 2018), the result of a collaboration with poet Karthika Naïr; two novels, and a collection of short stories about Mumbai/Bombay, Dirty Love (Penguin 2013). Her translation of Joy Goswami’s Selected Poems is a Harper Perennial; and Wordygurdyboom! — her translation of Sukumar Ray — is a Puffin Classic. Her new translation of Joy Goswami’s prose poems After Death Comes Water is forthcoming from HarperCollins later this year.
