Set against the serene backdrop of Palolem in Goa, the three-day transformative experience features yoga, music, mindfulness, and eco-conscious living
The much-anticipated 7th edition of the Shoonya Festival of Nothingness is set to be held in the picturesque backdrop of Colomb beach at Palolem in Goa from December 1-3. Organised at a new scenic address (earlier it was held in the Himalayas, Himachal Pradesh), this sought-after three-day transformational festival promises a unique experience for the mind, body, and soul. Founded by Anuj Agarwal, Manu Chandak, and Saksham Ghiya, Shoonya transcends labels and biases, inviting people from all walks of life to revel in the profound value of Nothingness within and around us.
The eco-conscious festival is poised to offer an unparalleled escape from the daily grind. Featuring a blend of engaging activities, intimate experiences, and hands-on workshops, it is designed to harmonize the heart, mind, and body. The ultimate goal? To awaken the soul and empower individuals to overcome their deepest fears. Talking about the festival, Manu Chandak, Festival Director, Shoonya, says, “Shoonya is not just a festival; it’s an experience that has touched many lives.” The Goa edition invites attendees to immerse themselves in peaceful mindfulness through an array of curated activities, from drum circles and yoga to cosmic healing and upcycling waste.
Having been organised in North India for the last six years, the festival is being organised in Goa for the first time. Nestled amidst the lush forests of coconut palms, with serene beach views and the rhythmic sounds of the Goan sea, Shoonya promises a refreshing change of scenery. The festival distinguishes itself by embodying the core value of collaboration. Participants become curators, and curators become participants, creating a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere. With a policy discouraging mobile or internet usage in public spaces, attendees are encouraged to disconnect from the digital world and embrace the serene calmness of nature. The festival maintains a steadfast commitment to discouraging substance/drug usage, fostering a mindful environment that rejects mindless drinking and smoking.
Here is the festival’s lineup of facilitators who will conduct the sessions this year:
Jenil Dholakia: Renowned as a Global Ambassador of Yoga and Mindfulness, Jenil brings a wealth of expertise in yoga, meditation, philosophy, and sound healing. She aims to deepen the connection between body, breath, and mind.
Shivam Bharadwaj: Delhi-based Shivam is a classical and Dhrupad singer. His musical roots run deep within his family lineage, nurtured under the tutelage of his father and further refined under the guidance of Padmashri Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, a Dhrupad exponent.
Kartikeya Sinha: Kartikeya leads the international music collective ‘Kartikeya and Her Sisters.’ Known for his original compositions, Kartikeya seamlessly blends Indian classical music with progressive rock and folk melodies from across the globe.
Since its inception in 2018, Shoonya has been consistent in its commitment to being a complete zero-waste festival. Proper waste management through upcycling methods has been a hallmark, ensuring that the festival leaves no environmental footprint. The choice of location further underscores its dedication to sustainable practices and promoting rural and eco-tourism. For this edition, attendees can look forward to residing in unique cabanas, made from local materials such as rice straw and bamboo.
The tickets for the Goa edition are now available, starting from Rs 15,000 onwards. Seize the opportunity to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, soul healing, and joyful connections amidst the breathtaking beauty of Goa’s coastal paradise. Shoonya Festival promises an experience that transcends the ordinary — a celebration of Nothingness that touches the very essence of being.
