Call it a night to celebrate the freaky and the fabulous. Kitty Su, the nightclub at The LaLiT New Delhi, is turning six this month and will be celebrating its anniversary on August 19 by raising a toast to the unique. Titled “The Freak Show”, it promises to be a fun-filled and freaky night, with Violet Chachki (Rupaul's Drag Race Season 7 winner) spearheading the celebrations. Violet Chachki is the stage name of Jason Dardo, an American drag queen, burlesque dancer, recording artiste, reality television personality, and model.
By calling it a freaky party, Kitty Su is opening its doors to people who are unique and who embrace their "uniqueness", people who are envied because they are fabulous, people who do not care about labels. The nightclub is dedicating its sixth year of existence to the freaky ones, the misfits and the rebels.
Kitty Su Delhi, the nightclub, blends past and present in its lively décor, an artistic exploration that has been beautifully translated into making it an urban music shrine. It offers music ranging from electro to pop and house to disco. Here, the earthy shades, dark wooden floors, evocative sculptures inspired from Khajuraho’s temple art make one travel back in time. The sound and lighting innovation in the nightclub is in sync with The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group’s characteristic sophisticated yet urbane style.
It is the only nightclub from India to have been featured in DJ Mag’s top 100 clubs of the world and was also awarded the Best Nightclub in the Capital consecutively for two years. It continues to push the envelope, with its ideation, acts and performances. After hosting Lil Jon and Troi Boi in May and July respectively, the nightclub is geared to put forth another big night of music, champagne and drama at The Freak Show. Some of the other performers include Kapil (Men in Heels), Ayush Jain (Yanis Marshall Choreo), Tanya Chamoli and Crew, Shushant Divgikar, Yasum Takam (B-Girl) and Alex Mathew (Drag Performance). The guest list is also quite high profile
The wild celebrations shall kickstart at 10 pm and are expected to carry on late into the night with exotic belly dancers, daredevil dungeon masters and scary clowns, to name a few.
Kitty Su has always been known to break the barriers and challenge the norms. From hosting events specifically designed for the specially-abled to welcoming guests of all genders, caste and creed with open arms, Kitty Su has broken several stereotypes. With a host of crazy activities planned, this is one night that party lovers of the capital will not forget.
Keshav Suri, executive director, The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group said, “It is gratifying to be consistently the number one choice for our people for six years and this year we are celebrating the essence of Kitty Su’s madness
and its staunch no discrimination policy. I welcome all for celebrations — party-goers, mad hatters, the freak, the fabulous!”
Besides being a cult music destination, the club also promotes the ideology of eradicating discrimination on the basis of gender and against couples of same sex.
